Parking kiosk ‘blacklist’ flags bad credit cards

Flyfisher64- I hate it when I’m right. Posted by jrmanville on January 22, 2008 at 3:42 p.m. ( Suggest removal ) flyfisher64- Sheesh! What a crybaby! Perhaps your wife needs to work on her parking skills if she can’t keep her vehicle between the lines. Or change her eyeglass prescription. Posted by oilburner on January 22, 2008 at 8:05 p.m. ( Suggest removal ) wow, either you guys are dying to be contrarian, or you must be the meter ticketers.

Flyf is totally right in his views, and before you ask, I DO live in Boulder. The city rejected the downtown retailers desires to make it easier to get down here, park and spend money (by ending the metered times earlier and offering 1hr free parking in the garage). Instead the City increased times to 7pm and increased rates. Net result - revenues are down in the downtown area relative to other parts of town.

jrmanville - as for calling someone a crybaby for the strictness of the meter ticketers, do a search on the DC story from a few weeks ago when the parking cops ticketed whole blocks of cars who were legit. It was snowing and despite a city policy of not ticketing during bad weather, or brushing off the snow, they just decided to ticket. Now that problem becomes the car owners to prove otherwise.

Many times I have caught ticketers busting someone because of an infraction like a tire was 2 turned out past the white line. put in 20 minutes worth of time in these new kiosks and then decide to spend 1 hr in town. Guess what? No more meter feeding! You gotta stop what you are doing 20 minutes from now and go back to your car. Convenient. It would be nice if city policies were in-tune with business policies, and together we could encourage people to come in, spend some money and help us all.
